Call For Papers for the 2017-2018 Sex Salon Lecture Series

The Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies Invites You to Participate in the Sex Salon! The Sex Salon, a monthly speakers series at the Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies, is looking for speakers for the 2017/18 academic year. The Salon provides a forum for faculty, graduate students, fellows, activist, artists, community members, and friends of the Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies to exchange ideas and share research pertaining to intersectional queer, LGBTQ, and critical sexuality studies. We are prioritizing scholarship that focuses on indigeneity, race, disability, trans politics, and transnational identities.
Submissions are encouraged to address, but are not limited to, the following topics:
Decolonization/decolonizing sex/queer
Indigenous sexualities
Disability & sexuality
Queer crip culture
Critical race theory and queer theory
Homonationalisms and queer exceptionalism
Sexual citizenship
Transnational trans and transnational sexualities
Race and the queer archive
LGBTQ and ageing
Pornography, feminist pornography, visual representations of sex
Sex work
Sexual perversion, deviation, and BDSM
Globalization, diaspora, migration
Religion, identity, and sexuality
Globalizations, diaspora, and migration
Trauma and mourning
Queer futurity and temporality
Queer aesthetics
Trans politics
Redefining LGBTQ community, art, and activisms
Materiality, bodies, and corporeality
Affect and labour
The format is open, but in general we anticipate 15-20 minutes per paper/presentation, followed by a discussion. Alternative formats are welcome, such as screenings, artist talks, performances, themed discussions, or you might workshop new projects and works-in-progress.
