Arts for Health at Mount Sinai

Dear Arts And Health colleagues,

The Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital, under our new Chief Dr. Lesley Wiesenfeld is exploring best practices for providing expressive arts opportunities for our in-and out-patients at Sinai and Bridgepoint. We look forward to growing our activities in this area and are keen to engage input and expertise to support the best health outcomes.

We would like to invite you to attend a meeting on February 13th at 5 pm in the 18th floor Board Room at Mount Sinai to help get us started. Refreshments will be served.

Please RSVP and let me know if you’d be willing to present for 5 minutes on initiatives you’ve undertaken in your own clinical setting. Be sure to bring any background printed information on these initiatives (including media coverage). If not or you can’t attend, can you please send me an email detailing what you’re doing?

We’re interested in narrative offerings (verbal/written storytelling, poetry, expressive writing workshops, readings), visual arts (photography, drawing, comics, collage sessions for patients, including “mobile art carts”), musical and theatrical performances/workshops, film screenings and body-focused work including dance, movement and mindfulness.

Happy to answer any questions and Lesley and I look forward to seeing you on February 13th.

Warm wishes,
