Workplace Based Assessment in Clerkship
If you are a faculty member, resident, fellow or clinical associate and teaching and/or evaluating medical clerks during their 3rd year rotations, part of your role will be to provide feedback and coaching to learners in the workplace (WBA). The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) has identified 12 clinical skills or tasks for proficiency by the time of graduation, called EPAs (entrustable professional activities). The MD program has developed a simple tool to document the feedback provided to students for EPAs that may be used across clerkship courses. The goal is to provide a developmental assessment of skills acquisition and to promote and support learning. EPAs in the MD program are not being used for progress decisions. This site provides resources to support you in this assessment role.

The faculty development session, recording, and tutor manual were very helpful. I felt well prepared going into it without prior experience, and I felt well supported at the session, with the just-in-time opportunity for coaching.Sacha Agrawal, Assistant Professor, University of Toronto
